Gypsy- Legend of the moonlight pearl

On August 11, 2010, in G. M. Raza, by Ginger Raza

The Moonlight Pearl is a journey through past, future and present experiences, as one woman journeys to the ends of the Earth in search of the legendary Moonlight Pearl. Her journey takes her through dark haunted forests, an amazing labyrinth, and ends on the shores of the ocean. Werewolves walk the Earth as humans during the moonless nights, but on the night of the full Moon, turn into what are known as Demon Wolves. They prey on Demon hunters, who defend the nights and regular humans. Both living amongst vampires, and witches or simply known as Gypsies. For one young woman named Ava, the fate of her peoples telepathic link to regular forest wolves, is about to be severed forever. A special necklace named the Lulu Princess holds the key to their link, found only in the deepest parts of the ocean. She’s not the only one looking for it. Werewolves have grown smarter, and discovered an ancient map leading to its place of origin. Now it’s a race against the full Moon and a lunar eclipse, both on the same night, to make sure the pearl is in the right hands, forever.

Chapter one- Wolfs Bae

A red glowed emerged from the tops of the forest, overlooking the town of Wolfs Bae. The fire was rapidly spreading through the small town, igniting everything on contact. Smoke filled the air and created walls surrounding the buildings and houses. The smells of burnt wood, spices and herbs filled the air creating a strong pungent aroma. Out of the smoke jumped a huge brown wolf snarling and growling. His bright yellow eyes pierced through the smoke and stared down its target. A young girl tripped and fell as she ran across the town square, brown streaks of dirt covered her face and left marks where the tears had fallen. Cuts and scrapes covered her arms and legs. Her breathing was heavy from exhaustion and her hair was knotted with dirt. Her red velvet dress was ripped and falling apart.  Stumbling backwards she ran into a small book store. She clawed at the front door pushing it open and ran inside.

The loud crackling from the fires outside was all she could hear as she sat down on the dusty floor hiding in fear. Her breathing increased as she quietly panted. The smell of burnt paper and leather bindings hit her like a brick as she scanned the small room she was hiding in. Shelves of books that the fire had failed to reach lined the walls and offered shelter from the glass windows. Her fear and anticipation started to grow as she wondered where the wolf was. Just then the bell to the front door rang, and the low growls from an animal entered the small book store. She clutched her legs for support and listened to the loud thumping sounds of the animals paws as she searched the room for an escape.

    Exerpt-

Ava watched as the vision flashed forward to a cold, and dark room covered in cobwebs and dust. Adam stood in the middle holding the book and reading the first pages before a knock on the door behind him startled him. He stood up quickly, and slipped the map in his pocket before opening the door to three tall men staring at him with glowing eyes. Adam invited them in and watched as they silently walked across the room and picked up the ancient demon hunters book. Without saying a word they left, shutting the door behind them, and leaving the scent of a dog lingering in the air. Adam stood speechless staring at the empty spot on the table where the book had been. The dust on the table left the invisible mark where the book had sat. He sat there listening to the sounds of the men walking away until he no longer could hear them.
Once the footsteps disappeared he slowly pulled the map out of his pocket, and laid it on the table, turning on the bright lap to his left illuminating the face of paper. The paper was old and worn and smelled of dust. Adam wrinkled his nose and fought back a sneeze. He stared at the map noticing two symbols running down the left side of the page. Small dots appeared as he ran his fingers through the dust on the table, and then over the map. Hidden under the first map was another map leading to something completely different. Adam felt his heart beat quicken, and his palms began to sweat. He sat there studying the map rubbing more dust over the top revealing the hidden ridges and bumps. Slowly he could see the mountain ranges and ocean cliffs. His excitement was building as he grabbed some ink and paper for writing.
