New GOP Caucus Defends Tea Party

On September 8, 2010, in Guest Writers, Hillary Bush-Limburg, by Hillary Bush-Limburg

Rep. Michelle Bachmann leads a group. They’re two dozen House Republicans. They officially launched the congressional Tea Party Caucus. That was some Wednesday. They strongly defend the grass-roots conservative movement. It’s a positive force in American politics. It does not have racist motives.

Many congressional Republicans are “tea party” activists. They emerged during last year’s stimulus debates. And health-care debates. They sharply oppose President Obama’s agenda. Now they formalize the relationship.

The caucus will invite activists to Capitol Hill. They’ll solicit their ideas. Perhaps turn them into policies.

They don’t know about the impact. They’re new. Most Republicans dislike what the tea party dislikes. Reduces the need for the caucus. They’ve already pushed to the right. House Republicans already have a group. They’re more conservative members. They’re called the Republican Study Committee.

The Tea Party Caucus’s creation creates choices. Mostly for some Republicans. Republicans want to capture the energy. The tea party has energy. Republicans don’t want defend the controversial elements. Rep. Mike Pence has joined the group. Another conservative opted against doing so. Because of the tea party’s beauty. They’re organic. Not like Washington.

Bachman said they want to listen. To the concerns of the tea party. They’re not a mouthpiece. They’re not controlling the tea party. Bachman’s not the head of the tea party. Nor are any members of Congress. People are head of the tea party.
