With “Seventh Son” scheduled to shoot this summer and a screenplay being penned about the teenage years of Julius Caesar Warner Brothers increases the commitment to their young audiences.
Following on the immense growth in Young Adult Novel’s popularity in the age of Kindle it would seem Hollywood is taking notice. With the close of the Harry Potter Tent-pole Series this Summer, Warner announces the next offering to the YA audience with “Seventh Son”, an adaptation of the fantasy tale formerly known as “The Spook’s Apprentice,” young adult series about a 13-year-old who’s the seventh son of a seventh son and learns about wizardry from a forbidding spook, written by Joseph Delaney. The production company Legendary Pictures rolled out a star studded lineup at their Comic-con preview for 4 pictures that have yet to be shot “Seventh Son” included.
Variety reports that veteran actor “Jeff Bridges, Ben Barnes and Alicia Vikander, along with director Sergi Bodrov introduced concept art for the adaptation of the young adult novel about a young boy training to be an exorcist in the 1700′s, who must learn how to exorcise ghosts, contain witches, and bind boggarts. Trouble begins when he’s tricked into releasing the most evil witch in the world, played by Julianne Moore.
Both Bridges and Barnes said they wanted to sign up for the pic after seeing Bodrov’s Mongol.” WB has recently announced a two picture deal for an as yet unwritten epic about Julius Caesar and his legendary 10th Legion along with another Caesar project in the works that William Broyles is scripting, based on
Conn Iggulden’s novel trilogy seemingly confirming Hollywood’s interest in Young Adult, Historical fiction.
