Review of “Ring of Fire” by Noelle Kalipetis

On October 30, 2012, in Ariel Ceylan, Guest Writers, by Ariel Ceylan

I just finished reading “Ring of Fire” by Noelle Kalipetis and even though it’s been a while since I’ve updated here or reviewed since I promised it, I figured that I might as well post my thoughts on it here. That’s the cover for “Ring of Fire”. This book is a hero story following Lana [...]

I’m not too thrilled with Bourne Legacy

On August 12, 2012, in Ariel Ceylan, Entertainment, Guest Writers, by Ariel Ceylan

After learning about Treadstone and what it meant to Bourne, one would think that everything would calm down, but no, it definitely does not calm down. There is so much more going on beneath the surface. There is a group of nine individuals who must take a series of pills: green and blue. One is [...]

Thoughts on “The Symposium”

On February 23, 2012, in Ariel Ceylan, Guest Writers, by Ariel Ceylan

I am currently in the Humanites Honors track of my college and we just finished reading “The Symposium” by Plato. It makes me think all kinds of things regarding reason. Before I begin, I would like to get off my chest that a symposium, even though it is called “a meeting of the minds”, it [...]

Thoughts on “The Iron Lady”

On January 19, 2012, in Ariel Ceylan, Entertainment, Guest Writers, by Ariel Ceylan

The Iron Lady is a film that just came out on the political carreer of Margaret Thatcher, the UK’s first femal Prime Minister. This story, on the surface, is about a woman who breaks into a man’s world and turns an economic downturn into growth. There’s more to the story than that. It evokes questions [...]

Mean Irene wasn’t all that Mean

On August 31, 2011, in Ariel Ceylan, Guest Writers, by Ariel Ceylan

Mean Irene came not too long ago and wiped out the east coast.  Honesty, despite the flooding and power loss and drama Irene caused, it wasn’t really all that bad. We had to light candles.  Sure we couldn’t see come nightfall, but there was a definate gain to this.  I actually was able to tell [...]

Update!

On August 15, 2011, in Ariel Ceylan, Blogging, Guest Writers, by Ariel Ceylan

Greetings all FrogenYozurters!   It has been far too long since I posted last!  Unfortunately, I’ve been working on transferring schools and the like, so my updating has not been as consistent as I would have liked.  Don’t worry, as soon as school starts (2 weeks) and I have a schedule, I’ll be able to [...]

The Fourth of July

On July 5, 2011, in Ariel Ceylan, Guest Writers, by Ariel Ceylan

The Fourth of July is America’s celebration of independence, no?  I think that initially, this was the occasion for the event, however, these past few years have shown this concept not to be the case.  Oftener than not, the fourth of July has turned into an excuse to have a fete. It’s an excuse to [...]

The Green Lantern

On June 26, 2011, in Ariel Ceylan, Entertainment, Guest Writers, by Ariel Ceylan

Today I will be writing about the movie, The Green Lantern. I saw it on opening day, and it was a decent movie. But now that I’ve had some time to think about it, I realized that this movie by far, is not the best superhero movie. Certainly, the film looked like a comic, with all the spandex and aliens, but the depth to the story was missing. In that film, what you see is what you get, never-mind that there were a few mentionings of a deeper plot-line. Those concepts were not explored.

Consistency!

On June 12, 2011, in Ariel Ceylan, Guest Writers, by Ariel Ceylan

Ok, so my aunt is in the middle of her mid-life crisis and she decided that she would come down to the states and live with my family.  I’ve been away in school for most of the year and I’m back home now.  In college-land, one just does things.  It is not necessary or relevant [...]
