Moonlight Pearl Mystery

On October 1, 2010, in Book Reviews, G. M. Raza, by Ginger Raza

Ava walked over the pile of ashes and blew out the remaining bursts of fire. The field was silent again as she stood still and felt the cool breezes of the forest kiss her cheeks. Her heart beat slowed down and she sank down to her knees.
Tears flooded her face as she held her cheeks in the palms of her hands. The stress washed over her, as she sat crying in the night air.
She released all her anger, and felt it just melt away. Samir came up to her and licked her cheeks as she cried. The cold wind felt good in her lungs. Her whole body had radiated the heat of that fire, and needed to cool down.
She suddenly realized she was feeling fatigued and exhausted, so she laid down in the field with Samir, and cried herself to sleep.

A small knife under her dress was all she had to fight with. The cold metal in her hand felt strange and unfamiliar as she sliced through the air. The wolf snarled and dodged the knife, turning around in time to claw the young girl across the open flesh of her back. The girl screamed in pain as she dropped the knife and fell to her knees. She looked up and faced the wolf this time ready to die. With a soft voice she stared at the wolf and spoke.

“My name is Ava, and this will not be the last time we meet. May packs of wolves drag you to your demise.”

Once the footsteps disappeared he slowly pulled the map out of his pocket, and laid it on the table, turning on the lap to his left, illuminating the face of the paper. The paper was old and worn and smelled of dust. Adam wrinkled his nose and fought back a sneeze. He stared at the map noticing two symbols running down the left side of the page. Small dots appeared as he ran his fingers through the dust on the table, and then over the map. Hidden under the first map was another map leading to something completely different. Adam felt his heart beat quicken, and his palms began to sweat. He sat there studying the map rubbing more dust over the top revealing the hidden ridges and bumps. Slowly he could see the mountain ranges and ocean cliffs. His excitement was building as he grabbed some ink and paper for writing.
