Author Thomas M. Cirignano

Thomas M. Cirignano grew up and worked for many years in Boston’s predominantly Irish working class neighborhoods. He owned and operated an automotive service station on East Third Street in South Boston until 1987. After selling that business, he relocated to Ft. Myers, Florida where he managed a branch office of AAIM Realty Group, Inc. and sold real estate for eleven years.

His lifelong battle with scoliosis and chronic back problems eventually forced him to give up that work as well. Over the years, Tom became a certified scuba diver, ultralite aircraft pilot, avid boater, and motorcycle enthusiast. Upon relocating once again to Massachusetts with his family, he served two terms on the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School Committee, and has served on several other town committees and commissions.

In 2009 Tom published his first novel, The Constant Outsider: Memoirs of a South Boston Mechanic.

The Constant Outsider is a lively flashback to an era in Boston’s history which was heavily influenced by organized crime, courtesy of unscrupulous Mobster Whitey Bulger. Throw into the mix, court ordered desegregation of the Boston schools via “Forced Busing,” along with the violence caused by the gasoline shortages of the 1970′s and it was a very exciting time to own a filling station and repair shop in “Southie,” as the author did until 1987.
