Part of his ride was to warn the British that we’re already there – that, ‘Hey, you’re not going to succeed. You’re not going to take American arms. You are not going to beat our own well-armed persons, individual, private militia that we have. He did warn the British.

Ben S. Clarke – The Columnist for the Greenfield Recorder And The Real World Lesson

On April 17, 2011, in Greenfield, MA, Politics in Greenfield, Massachusetts, by Wilfried F. Voss

Honestly, I had given up reading Ben S. Clarke’s column in the Greenfield Recorder. In my personal opinion, he would be better off writing a book in the range of “All I Really Need To Know I Learn By Watching FOX News.” That’s what it is. His writing is lightyears away from being original. I, the unapologetic liberal, and my wife, the registered Republican, have more intriguing discussions about US politics. Heck, even my almost-four-year-old, who doesn’t have a clue about politics, is more challenging.

The so-called “Greenfield Coalition for a Sustainable Future” is a group of local business owners who feel threatened by the prospect of a Walmart in town. They are wealthy residents annoyed by the prospect of increased traffic in their neighborhood. And the ring leader is Al Norman, an obsessive-compulsive character who fights Walmart on a national basis. His interest is Walmart, and Walmart alone. The needs of the town of Greenfield, Massachusetts don’t play any role in this scenario.

Greenfield, Massachusetts: Ben S. Clarke And The Gender Equity

On September 29, 2010, in Greenfield, MA, Life in New England, by Wilfried F. Voss

Now there is the diaper-changing-phobia (“I have a strict policy about changing diapers: I don’t.”) He says, “It has something to do with “gender equity” and division of infant labor duties.” Hmm, gender equity… division of infant labor duties… I do imagine the busloads of women from all over the country arriving in Greenfield, Massachusetts, trying to get a date with Ben S. Clarke.
