Nation tea party groups are redirecting their energy. They’re moving toward the November midterm elections. They’re raising millions of dollars. They’re expanding their advocacy. It’s for dozens of congressional races. They’re building voter turnout operations nationwide.

Sarah Palin is a former Alaska governor. She came to Iowa on Friday night. She left few of her opponents unscathed. She sharply attacked President Obama. And the Democrats. She denounced the news media. She pointedly called on establishment Republicans. Get over your losses in the primaries. Unite for the November elections.

Tea party activists have a message. The movement is about something more than winning elections. The bloody Republican primary season reaches an end. They have proved they really mean it. This was the loudest parting shot.

Anger is rising among conservatives. They don’t like Obama. The don’t like the Republican Party. Now Christine O’Donnell ousted a Republican favorite. It happened in Delaware. It was an unlikely outcome in the primary season. O’Donnell is far right. She was considered unelectable.

Sarah Palin is the party’s sole superstar. She has not yet said if she will seek nomination. Or if she will take on Barack Obama in 2012. But all the indications point to a run. And Friday’s visit is the biggest sign yet.

Thousands of Tea Party supporters marched to the Capitol Hill. That was Sunday. They declared their determination. They want to topple the Democratic majority in Congress. Election Day is in November.
