Bloggers: Don’t Waste Your Money With Google AdWords To Promote Your Website

On September 5, 2011, in Blogging, Blogging Aspects, Professional Blogging, by Editor

My experience was that an investment in SEO (search engine optimization) produces far more effective results than online advertising. Create good content; create tons of content; update frequently; apply the simple rules of SEO – This, in my very personal experience, is the best recipe for a successful website.

Blogging: Sometimes You Do Need That Personal Shrink

On May 11, 2011, in Blogging Aspects, Professional Blogging, by Editor

In general, it is my blogging policy to NOT block comments, unless they are scam (i.e. useless content not related to the post, but pointing to dubious websites). As of lately I have added another condition to block comments: Insulting comments. And yes, in some cases my posts are designed to provoke – that is in the nature of the business – but I won’t engage into fruitless fights.

Embedding YouTube Videos In Your WordPress Theme

On April 29, 2011, in Professional Blogging, WordPress plugins, by Editor

In the “old days” embedding YouTube videos was only possible through incorporating Java code – as provided by YouTube – into your post. You had to do it in the HTML editing mode, and you didn’t dare to go back into the “Visual” editing mode. WordPress is at times highly allergic to implemented Java or HTML code and just removes it in Visual mode.

Sick And Tired Of BlueHost.Com – The Problem With Shared Server Hosting

On March 20, 2011, in Blogging, Blogging Aspects, Professional Blogging, WordPress Tips, by Editor

BlueHost.Com, in their own words, is an “affordable, reliable web hosting solution.” And yes, I agree that their service is affordable. However, you get what you pay for. BlueHost.Com provides “shared server hosting,” meaning you share a server with a number of other people and businesses. Nothing wrong with that… as long as you have a small website (which FrogenYozurt.Com isn’t anymore), and you don’t share the server box with users utilizing an inordinate amount of system resources, and that’s exactly what happened to FrogenYozurt.Com.

The Effectiveness – Or Lack Thereof – Of E-Mail Marketing

I don’t believe in what used to be “cold calls” in the times prior to the Internet, i.e. sending meaningless e-mails to thousands or even millions of contacts you bought from one of these dubious services. Maybe you even started scraping addresses from various websites and sending infrequent e-mails. I, personally, do not believe in the effectiveness of e-mail marketing in this form. There are other, much more effective marketing measures like a strong website, online press releases, articles, etc.

Bloggers: How To Monetize "Free" Website Content

These days, everyone talks about free content. “Give it away!” they say, but does this really work? Well, yes and no. As with anything, there has to be a strategy.

The Power And The Danger Of A Successful Blog

I started this website as a personal blog to write about everything I love and hate, hoping that somebody in the outside world would read it, and afraid that somebody in the outside world would read it. Blogging is a never-ending learning process, especially when success is attached to it.

Bloggers: The Right Way to Approach a Social Networking Site

The idea behind social networks isn’t a new thing, but the concept of socializing online developed and morphed as more and more people spent time in front of their computers. The idea being that you could socialize, network, gather, communicate and meet friends in an online venue, rather than, let’s say a coffee shop.

On October 8, 2010, in Blogging, Blogging Aspects, Professional Blogging, WordPress Tips, by Editor

Now that my blog gains more and more popularity, I also have to deal with an increased number of spamming attempts. Naturally, my blog is protected against automatic spam attempts by all kinds of programs scanning the Internet and attempting to leave hyperlinks to dubious websites.
